Abdou Karim Ouedraogo works for the African Regional Organization of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC- Africa) as Organizing Programme Coordinator. He also coordinates the programmes of the African Trade Union Migration Network (ATUMNET). Part of his responsibility is to promote, defend and protect migrant workers’ rights. He holds a Professional Qualification Certificate on “Extending social protection to Migrant workers, refugees and their families” from the ILO International Training Center of Turin, Italy (ITCILO) 2022. He is in charge of supporting the implementation of ITUC-Africa’s agenda for workers’ capacity building through union growth, membership retention and trade union strength. Ouedraogo provides guidance and mentoring across specific programmes and projects to contribute to membership growth within workplace-based unions. He also leads others through example and modelling of practical skills and experience including the development of capacity for migrant workers to promote, defend and protect their own rights.
